LIVING

The living room is where the family gathers. They spend most of the time bonding with each other in front of the television or plainly conversing about the day’s activities. It is also where the family welcomes guests and spends time catching up with friends, relatives, and even neighbors. That is why purchasing a furniture set is crucial because it serves as the main showcase of the house. Of all the rooms in your home, the living room acquires greater exposure.

In designing a living room, the choice of furniture is of prime importance. Living room furniture defines the living room itself. A family's idea of how their living room will look like will depend largely on the type of furniture that they want to place in this part of the house. In terms of finances, living room furniture can be a one-purchase affair to many families. Because it requires quite an amount to purchase living room furniture, living room furniture oftentimes stay in the house for long years before they are replaced. It is therefore important to plan well what furniture to place in the living room before buying them, or you will have to live with your bad choice for long years.

Bookshelves/Bookcases:
The bookshelf is one of the most basic pieces of furniture in any room, and also one of the most important. The right bookshelf is equal parts storage, interior design, personal history and convenience. Whether you need something for the bathroom to hold towels and toiletries, something in the living room to display photographs and CDs, or one in the bedroom to hold books and files, you’ve come to the right place. At In Your Place Furniture we offer a wide array of bookshelf brands and products that will keep you in style and your books, DVDs, pictures and keepsakes on full display.

Every bookshelf tells a story, but only because of the objects it displays. The look of the bookshelf, the materials, the shape, and the location all combine to give every one a unique feel. Because every home is different, and every room is its own design challenge, every owner has their own ideas about what would work in any given space.

Bookshelves, bookcases, and shelving in are something we specialize in at In Your Place Furniture.  No matter what type of modern bookshelf you’re looking for, we’ve got it.

Sofas:
Your Sofa is the Most Important Piece of Furniture in Your Living Room.  Shopping for a new sofa can be fun; you can freshen up the family room, have a more comfortable place to sit, and have a chance to show off your decorating skills.

Check the sofa frame, a sturdy frame means a long-lasting sofa. Soft wood, such as pine, is low-cost, but it may warp or wobble after five years. Pricier hardwood (kiln-dried oak, ash, or beech, for example) is more durable. Avoid frames made of particleboard, plastic, or metal; they may warp and crack. Legs should be part of the frame or held on with screws or dowels (pegs) — not with glue alone.

Check the sofa cushions, Polyurethane foam is a low-cost, easy-care cushion filling. But the more durable, high-density type can feel hard, and softer, low-density foam deteriorates more rapidly with constant use. High-resilient (HR) foam is slightly more expensive but more comfortable and long-lasting. Polyester fiber is also inexpensive, but it flattens quickly. Goose- and duck-feather fillings are comfy, but they can clump. Top of the line: goose down (the bird's soft undercoat) mixed with feathers. The combo is fluffy like a cloud, expensive (about double the price of foam), and high maintenance; cushions need frequent fluffing. A down-polyfiber blend is cheaper, but it flattens fast.

Accent Chairs:
Accent chairs are an essential component of any room plan. Indoor and outdoor living rooms alike can benefit from beautiful, versatile accent chairs.

Accent chairs offer the perfect combination of style and functionality. They are small enough to fit into even the tightest of spaces while still providing a comfortable space for a single person to sit and relax. Patterned fabrics that may be too busy for a large sofa or loveseat are just right for a small accent chair. Fun fabric selections give you the opportunity to bring in accent colors and tons of visual interest to a space.

Accent chairs are one of the easiest ways to change up the look of a space. Choose chairs that work in multiple rooms of your home. When you do you have the freedom to move them around where you need them. When guests come over, bring in accent chairs from other rooms to provide additional seating. Rearrange them whenever the mood strikes you and you will have a whole new look to your room.

Arm Chairs:
Armchairs. Aren’t they comfy?! Another great thing about armchairs–they don’t take up too much space! While some people may be hesitant to purchase a long sofa in a bold hue or cutting edge design, many are more than willing to buy an armchair with a distinct look. Why not add a vivid pop of color with an armchair in fire red? Or make a statement with a contemporary tufted piece?

A good armchair is one you can stay in for hours and hours and hours, poring through detective novels, newspapers or websites.  Relax and watch your favorite TV show or movie.  Feel free to doze off on a lazy Sunday afternoon in the luxurious comfort of your plush armchair seat.

If your home is your castle, then the armchair is most certainly your throne. It's the one place you can always go to escape and take care of the really important stuff: watching TV, having a beer, snoozing. Getting a great piece could end up being quite the investment, but it'll pay for itself after a few moments of relaxation, half a novel, or some Sunday football.

Coffee Table:
The coffee table is one of the most undervalued and yet important pieces of furniture in your living room. If you think about the myriad of uses your coffee table is put to every day, you will appreciate its importance. It’s a place for the family to gather, it can be a showcase for your books and ornaments, it’s where you can get some last minute work done or where your child does their homework and sometimes it’s where you hurriedly eat your lunch.

All of these factors are important because ultimately our home is a place where we need to feel at ease and the furniture within it needs to be of practical use. However, a coffee table can also be an object of beauty and one which adds a level of style to our home.

Before you make any decision about your choice of coffee table you need to weigh up what it will be used for and the overall decor of your room. This will help you to make a decision based on some of the recent trends in furniture design.

If you have a busy family life you may well need to put practicality and storage above other concerns. Coffee tables which include shelves, drawers or cupboards are particularly easy to keep organized. Furthermore, if the coffee table ends up being the place where all the clutter of the house accumulates, a storage compartment allows you to quickly sweep everything out of sight should guests arrive unexpectedly.

TV Stands:
Choosing the right TV stand for your home or office is very important. You want a TV stand that will first and foremost accommodate your TV. Do you have a new Plasma TV? Are you looking for a new home for an older tube TV? No matter what kind of TV you have, there is a TV stand out there for you, and we can help you find it. It is also important that your TV be safe and secure upon the TV stand. Weight capacity and dimensions of your TV stand are also very important. Finally, you want a TV stand will look great for your aesthetic, whatever that may be. For this reason, color and material should also be factored into your choice of TV stand.

BEDROOM

A bedroom is a very important place where people relax after the long day activities. This is where people spend most of their time and therefore it is very important to have a good bedroom design that will make you feel comfortable and relaxed. After you get home from the long day activities, you will need somewhere to sleep and relax so that you can gain energy for the next day. With a well designed bedroom, you will need not to worry about this. Therefore it is very essential to have a well decorated bedroom for your comfort and healthy sleeping.

This is the most important thing in your bedroom and you must make sure to go for the right one. If your bedroom is not that big, you need not to go for a large bed because this will make your room look more crowded and awkward. You must go for the right size of bed if you want your bedroom to look perfect. Also make sure you choose the right mattress one that is comfortable and soft if you are to have a good sleeping time.

You must have the right arrangement of furniture inside your bedroom for easy movement. You must make sure that you have the right traffic lanes so that your movements become easy so that you avoid stumbling. Most importantly, you need to have the right types of wardrobe doors so that you will not have difficulty in opening them.

Bed:
In most cases, buying a bed frame involves buying an entire bed, including the headboard and footboard.

Bed frames are used to support the mattress and box spring, if there is one. They are not necessarily required since both the mattress and box spring can sit on the floor, but they make the bed more comfortable because they raise the bed higher up. People rarely want to bend down in order to get into bed. The frames do more than just provide support, though. Many of them serve as the main design statement in the room. Bed frames can have elaborate footboards, headboards, or even canopies that decorate the room and bring it to life.

The most important part of a mattress is the bed frame. The strength and support of the mattress relies completely in the bed frames. The better the bed frame, the better the bed. Mattress structures vary depending on what kind of mattress you buy, if you want wooden mattresses, then the wooden frames are suggested, alloy frames for the alloy beds and etc. Mattresses deal with a big part in our day-to-day life; they give comfort after a hard day of work or school.

Dressers:
One of the key pieces of bedroom furniture is a dresser. Dressers not only hold your clothes, but they can also enhance your bedroom decor. A chest of drawers can add unique style and taste to your bedroom. Before you select a set of dresser drawers, you'll want to think about the style, size and material that will suit your bedroom. The right bedroom furniture stores your many outfits while keeping your bedroom organized, tidy and fashionable.

Dressers are an essential piece of furniture in the bedroom because of the organization they provide. They also help to aesthetically ground your design by acting as an important focal point of the room. To find the perfect dresser with the features that are right for you, measure your space and assess your storage and organization needs.

Consider what you will be storing? Jewelry and other small accessories are a good fit for smaller drawers, while bulkier items like sweaters will be best in deeper, larger drawers.  If you're looking to store a combination of items, consider a dresser with different sized drawers.

Night Stands:
It is often the first thing one sees in the morning and the last thing one sees before retiring for the night. The importance of an attractive nightstand cannot be overstated.

Not only must it be stylish but above all, functional. For example, the table surface must have enough room for a lamp, alarm clock, cell phone, and eye glasses. It should have adequate drawer space for reading materials, medications, or valuables.

LIGHTING

The lighting in a home changes the mood of a room just as it does the perceived size of a room. Placement and type are important aspects of interior design, and they work in conjunction with color selections, room size, availability of natural light and furniture selection. The elements that come together when the right lighting is achieved transform a room into a seamless combination of functionality and style.

When thinking about lighting, it tends to be artificial light that comes to mind. Optimizing the use of natural light, however, is also key, both in terms of practicality and in order to be able to appreciate the beauty of the space.  When creating an interior design scheme from scratch taking both artificial and natural lighting into consideration, but even within an existing design there is still much that we can do to improve matters.

Where artificial lighting is concerned, there are of course a number of different types.  Accent lighting, for example, can be extremely effective when used to display paintings or to accentuate plants or Artwork, although the angle of the lighting clearly needs to be just right to achieve the very best effect.  Task lighting is another type of lighting which is important in just about every room of a house.  In sitting rooms and studies, for example, it helps to avoid eyestrain when reading or working, while in the kitchen it ensures that tasks can be carried out safely.  Adequate task lighting is also essential in the bathroom for the purposes of shaving or applying make-up for instance.

Lamps:
The lighting in a home changes the mood of a room just as it does the perceived size of a room. Placement and type are important aspects of interior design, and they work in conjunction with color selections, room size, availability of natural light and furniture selection. The elements that come together when the right lighting is achieved transform a room into a seamless combination of functionality and style.

The use of lighting can add to or subtract from the overall colors of a room or from only those surfaces the light is meant to enhance. Darker colors make a room feel smaller and cramped, while light-colored walls do the opposite. The illusion of space is defined by light reflected off of the surfaces of the walls. Some types of lighting help with this illusion by further illuminating the walls. In addition, directional lighting, such as a track light, can soften the wall colors. There is also recessed can lighting, which has a soft, downward glow that illuminates the floors, not walls. This is opposed to lights hung from the center of the room, which provide ambient illumination, or wall lighting. In both cases, this can affect how light or dark a colored section can appear.

DINING

The dining room is an integral part of a home. This is the place where family and friends gather together on special occasions to enjoy festive meals. For many families, enjoying a collective meal is the highlight of holidays and is a time for sharing stories and memories. To make the occasion a pleasurable and memorable one, therefore, your dining room should be both stylish and comfortable.

The design of the dining room set should represent your personal style. If your taste is modern, for instance, choose a glass top dining table with a chrome base and parson chairs in leather or fabric. Alternatively, if you prefer traditional, opt for a wooden carved dining table, with matching wooden or upholstered dining chairs. On the other hand, if your preference is transitional, then you could choose a linear style dining table and coordinating linear-style upholstered chairs.

The size of the dining table should be able to accommodate your family members and friends.  Many tables come with two to three leaf extensions that expand the table size when needed. The dining room chairs should be comfortable to sit on as you and your guests will spend considerable time gathered together at the table.

Remember when purchasing your dining room furniture that it’s important to choose carefully and tastefully. Think of your dining suite as an investment, and remember that you’ll be living with these pieces for some time. Hosting family and friends for special occasions is an opportunity to showcase the pride you take in your home. A stylish dining room says a lot.

There is something wonderful about celebrating large occasions like birthdays, festivals and holidays with family, as well as more intimate dinner parties with small groups of friends. Think of your dining room as more than a place to eat – it’s a place to gather, celebrate, and enjoy.

Dining Tables:
A dining area should bring people together to share in not just a meal, but in the timeless conversation and camaraderie that gets skipped in our all too hectic lives.

I believe the table is the heart of the home. It’s where everything comes together. Beyond the importance of a table, I also believe in the value of a family sitting down together for a meal. From cooking, to setting the table to cleaning the dishes afterwards, I believe each step of the routine is important to the rhythm of life in general and the way a family reacts and relies on each other on a day-to-day basis.  The dining table should be more than just a place for eating.

The dining table is important from several different points of view – located in the living room; it can be a sign of wealth and prosperity. The color, the shape and the size of the table also play important roles: as a matter of fact, these aspects can tell a lot about a family and the house they are living in. Dining tables have many different uses that make them highly practical and convenient, and here you will find out more about their importance.

Dining Chairs:
Dining room chairs play a vital role in the dining room. How they look and fit in the room is important, but it's also imperative that they be comfortable. Here are some things you need to know about dining room chairs before you buy.

Upholstered dining room chairs add softness, comfort and style to the room. If you decide to use them think hard about what goes on in your dining room before settling on a fabric. If you have kids that spill a lot you might want to consider a patterned fabric that can hide stains. Another good alternative is leather, which can be wiped up fairly easily.

Keep in mind that you can also use slipcovers. They can be used to cover upholstered or unupholstered chairs and can be a very practical solution since they can be tossed in the washing machine when dirty. They're also great because they can quickly and easily change the look of the room.
